RAHS is the only hospital in Dang district to provide regular psychiatric services with notion that mental health is an integral part of health care system. In Nepal there are 0.22 psychiatrists for one lakh population, currently department of psychiatry.

This department provides outpatient as well as inpatient services. These services include treatment and management of depressive disorder, anxiety disorder, psychotic disorder, seizure, alcohol use disorders, and others. Besides medical treatment, services such as counseling and psychotherapies are also available. Patients from surrounding districts of Lumbini and Karnali provinces are benefitted from the psychiatric care service of RAHS.
In near future we are planning to extend services as ECT, EEG, community services, etc. and aim to minimize unmet mental health needs.
